Race Day at the Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway.

Its Race day at the Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway.

The track in in mint condition and the day is looking fantastic for speedway racing. With the Super Rods and the SDAV’s going head to head in the Podger Memorial tonight the racing is going to be fast and entertaining. I think the term ‘Racing for Sheep stations’ is going to be an understatement!

The Junior Sedans will be competing in round 2 of their JSPA Series and by the look of the nominations, the class will be putting on a great show for the crowd.

Standard Saloon’s have a handful of drivers wanting to give the Bungador bullring a go for the first time. If my memory serves me well, there is only one of the drivers that have turned a wheel at the track.

The Vintage class will also be in attendance with a number of the old cars getting around the track. They will certainly bring back some memories.

The canteen will be fully stocked so make sure you support the club and keep yourself fed and hydrated. Don’t forget to sample a cup of Pauline’s famous soup.

Gates open at 4.30pm with racing from 6pm.

Good luck to the drivers competing tonight and see you there!

Febrary 3rd Race Meteing is getting closer

We are looking forward to the next race meeting scheduled for the 3rd February which will bring a mixed bag of open wheel cars and sedans to the Bungador Bullring.

Featuring on the night will be the Super Rods in the ‘Podger Memorial Race’ and the Junior Sedans in their JSPA Series.

The Super Rods had good numbers in the last race and certainly put on a show for the crowd in trying conditions. They all want their name on the trophy at the end of this nights racing so its going to be a night full of determination.

The juniors are  expecting their largest car counts for the season with all drivers vying for the that front position on the grid and taking home the much-needed series points at the end of the night. Its great to see the kids having a go so make sure you pencil in the night to come along and support the drivers that put the entertainment on for you.

The night will be supported by Standard Saloons  which will one of their last races scheduled prior to their Victorian State Title in march and the Vintage will be on display during the nights events.

Keep an eye on Facebook for any updates and make sure you come along to show your support to the Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway.

The weather has won again!!

The weather has won again!!   For the third time this season the Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway has been affected by the rain – isn’t it supposed to be Summer?    Unfortunately last night was no exception.

With the rain persisting during the day and the grey clouds looming, the Bureau of meteorology was consulted and we were advised that the rains would cease from 4.30pm.

The committee decided to push on and attempt to get the biggest night of speedway underway. Once the track had been prepped by the track curators and assisted by the Super Rods the track was ready to go.

Heat 13 the heaven opened again and racing was placed on pause. The track curators work tirelessly once again and the Super Rods were called on to bring the surface back in suitable for racing to recommence.  Off and racing again with minimal incidents and we progressed through more events until the Paramedics were called into the spectator area with a patron needing some attention.

By this time it was getting late into the night with still plenty of racing ahead. We pushed along with the clouds looming above until we were finally able to start the biggest race of the year and the A-Main was underway. USA00 Corey Eliason headed the pack with VA68 Jess Moulden hot on his heals. V34 Brenten Farrer and V91 Brad Warren were not far behind. With 8 laps completed and being past midnight the rain come down again, this time it put an end to the racing with the track surface deemed unsafe to continue.

The committee and members would like to thank the crowd for sticking around throughout the night and persisting with us. A huge thank you to the Super Rod drivers for assisting in the track preparation because without you guys, it would not have happened, and thank you to the drivers for supporting us and  I’m sure if the rain had stayed away, it would have been a epic finish to the race.

All we can do is continue on and get ready for the next meeting at the track which is Saturday 3rd February. The Super Rods will showcase the event with their Podger Memorial Race, the Junior Sedans are running  in their Series Round and the evening will be supported by Standard Saloons and Vintage.
